A new 5-piece limited edition portfolio collection

A new 5-piece limited edition portfolio collection from @hisamfriends features five artists' reflections on the 100th anniversary of women’s suffrage. Pieces by Pegge Hopper ("Still Trying to 'Imagine' World Peace"), Reem Bassous ("Silent Strong"), Deb Nehmad ("Think About It"), Sally French ("The Cone of Uncertainty") and Mary Mitsuda ("Ti Portrait") weigh in on issues reflecting the female vote, the silencing of women's voices, desire for global peace and absurditu of today's geopolitical uncertainty, and the possibility of hope. The collection is on display @halekulanihotel through April 30. Fifty signed and numbered sets are available with a tax-deductible donation of $1,000 to the Friends of Hawaii State Art Museum.

Today's the last day to catch the lifetime retrospective, "Satoru Abe: 72 Years of Creativity," at Luxury Row in Waikiki. The exhibition will be open until 9 p.m. and Abe is expected to be there until 3 p.m.

Recently, the artist's “Wheel No 5” became one of 25 HiSAM Top Picks selected by local fine art connoisseurs. His sculpture “Webbed Tree” that was featured at MoMA and TIME Magazine in 1959 will be one of the pieces on display.

I remember when May Izumi's "Mr. Chickenpants" was yea high, just a little bigger than a pamphlet. My how he's grown! Come visit him in the musuem's Sculpture Garden tomorrow, 8/2, when a free, all-ages evening of art and music celebrates his debut. Starts with a dedication at 4 p.m., followed by #FirstFriday festivities, when the second floor galleries will be open and there will be music and hiphop performances.
